Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 1/2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will ensure that the fritters bake evenly and don’t stick to the pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined. These dry ingredients will provide the structure and flavor base for your fritters.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter together until smooth and fully combined. The melted butter will give the fritters a rich texture, while the milk and eggs will help bind everything together.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir gently until everything is just mixed. Be careful not to overmix, as you want the fritter batter to stay light and fluffy. Once the batter is combined, gently fold in the diced apples, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter. The apples will soften and become tender as the fritters bake, adding natural sweetness and texture to each bite.
- Using a spoon, scoop out mounds of batter and drop them onto the prepared baking sheet. Shape each mound into small rounds, spacing them about 2 inches apart. This will allow the fritters to bake evenly without sticking together.
- Bake the fritters for about 15-18 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The baking time can vary slightly depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them toward the end of the baking time. The fritters should have a soft, fluffy interior and a slightly crisp exterior.
